Wendy Best Journalist

Wendy worked as a regional newspaper journalist for 24 years in Bath, Lancashire and for the last 15 plus years until July 2011 for the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press.

“I was group commercial editor managing media partnerships for the newspapers with external events and agencies and liaised regularly with readers and businesses.
As a reporter I covered all general news and specialised in health and crime reporting.

I brought Bristol to a stand still twice within a month when I organised – with BCFC and BRFC – the celebratory tours of the city when both football clubs won promotion in the same season.
And my story on two pigs in 1998 went worldwide – they were the Tamworth Two whose exploits upon escaping from a Wiltshire abattoir captured international media attention.
I represented the Western Daily Press on the marketing committee for the Royal Bath and West Show and am continuing in a freelance capacity.

I have now set up my own business to use my experience to help others maximise their exposure as well as offering journalistic freelance support to newspapers and online news sites.
On a personal level I am a married mother-of two and have a menagerie of animals at home – dog, cat, chickens and ducks!”

About Penny Lamb

Penny has recently joined our team.

Working with Wendy as commercial manager is Penny Lamb, who has worked in the regional press for more than 25 years as a National Sales Manager.

As well as working on titles in the South West she has also liaised with London and Manchester advertising agencies. Penny has sourced sponsorship and managed events. Her work has always involved finding new business, maintaining and developing client relationships.
